What Makes Modernization Hard
People who have since moved on wrote much of that code. Before we build anything, our senior engineers recover the business rules buried in the code and confirm each one with your staff.
Know the Cost and Timeline Before You Commit
Every modernization starts with a Discovery Workshop sized to the project: one, two, or three weeks. We begin with working sessions with your key people, in person when possible, then follow up on specific questions. You leave with an estimate, a recommended architecture and tech stack, and a migration plan, sometimes with designs or a clickable prototype.
If the discovery doesn't provide value, you don't have to pay for it.

What a Modernization With Trailhead Delivers
User-Centered Design
We involve the people who use the system every day from the start, keep the workflows that already work, and fix the ones that don't.
AI-Assisted Legacy Code Analysis
Our engineers use AI tools to read old code, even on platforms like AS/400, so they spend less of the project working out what the old system does. They use AI to turn the business rules they recover into a searchable knowledge base for your team, then confirm the rules with your staff.
Security, Performance & Bug Fixes
Old systems hide security vulnerabilities, performance problems, and calculation errors. Some of those errors have been costing money for years in code nobody has had reason to reopen. We find them while we study the code and fix them before they reach the new system.
Phased Migration
When the project allows it, we replace the system in stages, one area at a time, so the business runs on the old parts until the new ones are ready. Otherwise we plan a single cutover with you.
Data Migration & Cleanup
Historical data carries years of workarounds. We map it, clean it, and check it against the old system before anyone relies on the new one.
Modern Platforms
We build on modern, well-supported platforms, usually .NET, so you can find people to maintain it for years. We know .NET best; one of our founding partners is a longtime Microsoft MVP and .NET Foundation VP.

Who Does the Work
A senior engineer leads every modernization, and any of your people who join the project work alongside our team. You own all of the code and documentation.
You'll see working software at the end of every sprint, with frequent check-ins so you can change course early.
What Happens After Launch
Once the new system is live, we can stay on to support and extend it through Feature Development, or hand it to your team to run and extend. We named the company Trailhead Technology Partners for a reason: we'd rather work with you for years than for one project.
Tell us about the system that's giving you trouble, and we'll set up a call with one of our engineers.
